Nationwide Injunction Suspends Enforcement of Public Charge Rule During National State of Emergency Due to COVID 19

AKRON- Yesterday, the Hon. George B. Daniels | US District Court Judge for the Southern District of NY granted a temporary nationwide injunction suspending the enforcement of Public Charge during the national state of emergency due to COVID 19. Elaine Tso, CEO of Asian Services in Action, noted that the decision “recognizes that medical care is a basic need for everyone. COVID 19 has shown us what a public health crisis looks like.  Vulnerable immigrant and refugee communities who are already fearful about their immigration status should not be afraid to seek medical care, especially during this pandemic.”
